A secondary framework or protocol built on top of a primary blockchain (Layer 1) designed to improve transaction speed and reduce costs by processing transactions off the main chain and settling them in batches. Many tokenized real estate platforms use Layer 2 solutions — such as Polygon or Arbitrum — to make token issuance and transfer more cost-efficient than transacting directly on Ethereum mainnet.
